Imagine a world where every young person is empowered to shine, pursue their dreams, and craft an extraordinary future.

The Mentoring Edge: A Healthy Relationship + Pathway to Skills

We see mentoring relationships as both an end in itself, and a means to an end. A healthy and nurturing relationship can support a young  person's social and emotional development, and provide them the safe space and confidence they need to navigate the world. At the same time, a mentor can support in the development of special skills that a young person may need help with at different critical periods of time in their lives. This could help in supporting the journey to various academic and career goals a young person may dream of.

Framework of
Mentorship

Mentoring centers on the creation of a safe and healthy relationship between a mentor and mentee.
Our mentoring framework identifies 4 critical stages every mentor and mentee goes through

STEP 1

Connect

Our first relationship stage helps mentor and the mentee establish trust, consistency and reliability in the relationship.By the end of this stage, mentors and mentees feel comfortable around each other.

STEP 2

Level

In the second stage, we remove implicit and explicit power differences between our mentors and mentees. We establish a mutual or two-way relationship, where mentor and mentee both contribute to the relationship and learn from it.

STEP 3

Empower

In this stage, mentees work on those facets of their lives that they would like to empower through the mentoring. Mentors and mentees practice different life skills that can help them achieve their goals.

STEP 1

Evolve

In this final stage, mentees work on their future life choices. Mentors help mentees in their decision-making. Mentors and mentees also reflect on their mentorship and decide the next stage of their own journey.
